Jones was required to go to an entirely new high school every year because of her nomadic upbringing. She was the winner of the 100-meter hurdle in 2002 at the NCAA Track & Field Championship. Also, she was a part of the team that won the 100-meter relay. Jones was the winner of the NCAA Indoor Hurdles event in 2003 and 2004. Jones started her track career in the year 2005, when she graduated from university. In 2005 she was first in the Torino Memorial race, in 2006, she won the Heusden and Ostrava athletes.
